We are looking for dedicated highschool students to participate in Alabama Charcoal’s rigorous charcoal drawing class. Alabama Charcoal’s drawing class will focus on observational drawing, design, composition, color theory, and trends in contemporary art and art history. With an emphasis on process students will learn how to draw with charcoal, graphite sticks and powder, finding new ways to use conventional and unconventional materials. Students will be taught the art of critique and how to talk about their own art and their peers. The goal of Alabama Charcoal Drawing is to break away from tight pencil tip drawings and learn new messy, personal and skillful techniques.
